Maintenance Plans FAQ
Common questions about enrollment, services, and billing.
What if I need additional repairs beyond what's included in my plan?
You'll receive a discount on all additional repairs and parts (5-12% depending on your plan). We'll always provide a written estimate before proceeding with non-covered work. You have the option to approve or decline.
Can I enroll mid-season?
Yes! We'll prorate your first year's cost based on services remaining. Example: Enrolling in June for Essential plan means you've missed spring service, so we'd adjust the cost accordingly ($249 - ~$150 for missed service = ~$99 for remainder of year).
What happens if I sell my mower?
Membership can transfer to new owner (with our approval and documentation update) OR you can cancel with prorated refund for unused services. Transferring is recommended if buyer wants coverage.
Are parts included in the plans?
Wear items are included: Oil, spark plugs, air filters during scheduled services.
Not included: Belts (covered in Multi-Touch+), major components (bearings, reels, engines), collision damage, abuse/neglect. You receive member discounts (5-12%) on any additional parts needed.
How far in advance do I need to schedule services?
Members get priority booking. We recommend scheduling 2-4 weeks in advance during peak season (spring), but we often accommodate shorter notice. Off-season scheduling can be last-minute.
What if I'm outside the 50km/100km pickup zone?
Pickup/delivery is available outside these zones for an additional distance-based fee. Alternatively, you can ship your mower to us (we provide prepaid label) or drop off in person at our Ottawa facility.
Do Maintenance Plans cover battery replacement (battery models)?
No. Batteries are considered consumables (like fuel) and are not covered. However, we inspect battery health during services and can recommend replacement timing. Members receive 5-12% discount on battery purchases.
Can I pause my plan during winter?
Plans run on annual cycles aligned with mowing season. Multi-Touch and Premium plans already include post-season/winter services. If you're in a region with very short season and want Essential plan only during active months, contact us—we can discuss custom arrangements.
How do loaner mowers work (Premium plan)?
Loaner mowers are available to Premium members when their mower is down for major repairs (engine work, significant service). Based on availability—we prioritize commercial/fleet members who can't afford downtime. Loaners are comparable models (may not match exactly). Typical loan period: 3-7 days.
What's included in "fleet maintenance scheduling" (Premium)?
For multi-unit operations, we coordinate service across all mowers to minimize operational disruption. Example: Municipality with 8 mowers—we'll stagger services so you never have more than 1-2 units down at once.
Do you service mowers purchased elsewhere (not from Allett Canada)?
Yes, as long as they're genuine Allett mowers. We service all Allett equipment regardless of where it was purchased. Registration with serial number required for enrollment.
Can I switch plans mid-year?
Yes. Upgrading: Pay the difference, receive additional services moving forward. Downgrading: Receive prorated refund for unused higher-tier services. No penalty for switching.
What if I miss a scheduled service window?
Contact us to reschedule. We're flexible and will work around your availability. If you skip a service entirely (e.g., don't want fall winterization), we don't refund that service—plan is annual coverage, not pay-per-service.
Is there a discount for multiple mowers (residential)?
Not formally, but contact us—we may offer custom arrangements for residential owners with 2-3 units. Premium plan discounts apply to commercial fleets (3+ units).
Are Maintenance Plans tax-deductible (business)?
For commercial operations, maintenance plans are generally deductible as ordinary business expenses. Consult your tax advisor. We provide detailed invoices for your records.
