Lawn & Garden FAQ
Answers to help you choose confidently.
Can cylinder mowers handle longer grass?
Cylinder mowers are designed for regular cutting, ideally when grass is no more than 1/3 taller than your desired height. For overgrown lawns, gradually lower the height over several cuts.
If grass is significantly overgrown, a rotary mower may be needed initially to bring it down to manageable height before transitioning to cylinder cutting.
How often should I mow with an Allett?
For best results, mow when grass has grown 1/3 above your desired height—typically once or twice per week during peak growing season. Consistent mowing promotes denser turf and cleaner stripes.
Our Lawn & Garden models are specifically designed for this weekly duty cycle.
Are cartridges interchangeable between models?
Cartridges are width-specific. 14" cartridges fit Kensington 14B and Classic 14E. 17" cartridges fit Kensington 17B, Classic 17E, Liberty 35, and Stirling 43. 20" cartridges fit Kensington 20B/20H and Stirling 51.
Always verify compatibility before purchasing.
What maintenance is required for Lawn & Garden models?
Basic maintenance includes: cleaning grass buildup after each use, checking belt tension monthly, oil changes per manufacturer schedule (petrol models), and annual reel sharpening.
Battery models require minimal maintenance. Most owners perform routine care themselves—our manuals provide step-by-step guidance.
How does battery runtime compare to petrol?
Liberty models (with 5Ah battery) typically provide 35-45 minutes of runtime—sufficient for lawns up to 700m².
Stirling models offer similar runtime with additional power for cartridge use. Larger batteries (7.5Ah, 10Ah) extend runtime significantly.
Will an Allett mower work on my lawn type?
It depends on where you are. Orders processed here will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days.
Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
How do I know which cutting width to choose?
Match width to lawn size: 14" (up to 400m²), 17" (400-700m²), 20" (700-900m²). Wider cutting means fewer passes but heavier weight.
Consider your physical comfort and storage space alongside lawn size.
