Important Notes
Warranty Conditions & Exclusions
Understanding what affects warranty coverage.
Proper Assembly & Setup
Warranty coverage assumes mower was assembled and set up per manufacturer instructions. Improper setup can void warranty.
Proper Use
Mower must be used for its intended purpose (lawn mowing on maintained grass). Use on rough terrain, gravel, or non-lawn surfaces may void warranty.
Regular Maintenance
Following manufacturer's maintenance schedule is required for warranty validity. Neglected maintenance (e.g., never changing oil) can void coverage.
Genuine Parts & Accessories
Use of non-OEM parts or unauthorized modifications voids warranty. Always use genuine Allett parts.
Authorized Repairs
Warranty repairs must be performed by authorized service centers (Allett Canada or approved dealers). DIY or third-party repairs may void warranty.
Normal Wear & Tear:
- Blade dulling (reels require periodic sharpening—not a defect)
- Belt stretching (belts are wear items)
- Paint fading or chipping (cosmetic only)
- Grass box cracking from UV exposure
- Tire tread wear
- Handlebar grip wear
Environmental Damage:
- Rust from improper storage (must be stored dry)
- Water damage from submersion or heavy rain exposure
- Sun damage from prolonged outdoor storage without cover
- Freeze damage (battery models stored in freezing temperatures)
Misuse or Abuse:
- Running over objects (rocks, sticks, metal)
- Mowing excessively tall grass or brush
- Operating with dull blades (causing strain on engine/motor)
- Dropping or tipping mower improperly
Consequential Damages
Warranty does not cover consequential damages such as: lawn damage from mower failure, loss of business income, cost of alternative lawn care during repairs, transportation costs to/from service, etc.
Transferability
Warranty transfers to subsequent owners if: mower is registered, proof of purchase is provided, and remaining warranty period is documented. Contact us to transfer warranty.
Warranty FAQ's
Common warranty questions answered.
Do I need to register my mower for warranty coverage?
No, warranty coverage is automatic from date of purchase. However, registration makes claims processing faster and ensures we can contact you about important updates. We recommend registration but it's not required.
What if I don't have my receipt?
We can often verify purchase date through retailer records or our sales records if you purchased directly. If verification isn't possible, warranty coverage defaults to manufacturing date (which we can determine from serial number). Having your receipt avoids this issue.
Does warranty cover sharpening?
No. Blade sharpening is regular maintenance, not a defect. Reels are designed to be sharpened periodically—this is normal wear. Our Reel Exchange program makes sharpening convenient.
I bought a used/refurbished Allett. Do I have warranty?
Depends:
- Certified refurbished from us: Yes, limited warranty (3-6 months typically)
- Private sale used: No manufacturer warranty (expired with original owner), but you can purchase extended coverage
- Dealer refurbished: Check with selling dealer for warranty terms
Can I perform my own repairs and maintain warranty?
Depends on the repair:
- Regular maintenance (oil changes, filter replacement, cleaning): Yes, DIY is fine and expected
- Adjustments (height of cut, reel contact): Yes, these are owner-adjustable
- Component replacement (belts, blades): Yes, if using genuine OEM parts
- Major repairs (engine work, frame repairs): No, these must be done by authorized service or warranty is void
- When in doubt, contact us before DIY repairs on warranty-covered mowers.
What happens if my claim is denied?
We'll explain why coverage doesn't apply and provide a paid-repair estimate. You can:
- Approve the paid repair
- Decline and have mower returned (you pay return shipping)
- Seek a second opinion (though our assessment is typically final for warranty purposes)
- You're never obligated to pay for repairs you didn't approve.
Does warranty cover shipping costs?
Varies:
- To us: Usually customer pays initial shipping. For clear warranty issues, we may provide prepaid label.
- Return to you: We cover return shipping for warranty-covered repairs.
- Non-warranty issues: Customer pays both directions.
How long does a warranty claim take?
Typical timeline:
- Assessment: 2-3 business days after receipt
- Parts ordering (if needed): 3-7 days
- Repair: 1-3 days
- Return shipping: 3-5 days
Total: 7-14 business days in most cases. Complex repairs or parts backorders may extend timeline—we'll keep you updated.
Can I extend my warranty?
Yes. Extended warranty (1-2 additional years) available for purchase before original warranty expires. Contact us for pricing—typically $150-300 depending on model. Must be purchased before original warranty expires.
What if my mower fails right after warranty expires?
Frustrating, but it happens. We offer:
- Goodwill assessment (case-by-case consideration for near-expiration failures)
- Discounted repair rates for recently-out-of-warranty mowers
- Maintenance Plans (preventive approach to avoid post-warranty failures)
- We're fair and reasonable—contact us even if warranty expired recently.
Does Reel Exchange or Maintenance Plan affect warranty?
Positively, yes:
- Proper maintenance (which plans enforce) helps maintain warranty validity
- Professional service documentation supports warranty claims if issues arise
- Plans don't extend warranty period, but they help ensure warranty isn't voided by neglected maintenance
